Often there is an appeal for money to help people affected by natural disasters.
'Many people respond to appeals very quickly.'
'The aid agency was touched by the support received when they made an appeal.'
We refer to money given to help a person or an organisation as a 'donation'.
'I donated all my old clothing to charity.'
'He wants to make a donation to cancer research in his mother's name.'
'Please donate generously to help those affected by the cyclone.'
